So you need to fly somewhere and you need to do it fast. Perhaps you got the weekend off of work and you want to fly someplace exotic, or on a more serious note, perhaps you have a family emergency that needs taken care of and you have to go now. Either way, you have found yourself in a position that you need to book a last minute flight and you don't want to have to spend any more money on your airline ticket than you have to.

I can understand how you feel, I have been in that situation more than once. It doesn't seem fare somehow, that you are expected to pay so much for a plane ticket at the last minute. Logically you would reason that if the tickets were left till the last minute that you should be able to find your plane ticket at a discount, but that isn't how it works at all. Usually you will pay more for a last minute flight than you would if you book your flight far in advance.

Here is how I look for my lastminuteflights, in fact this is how I always book my plane tickets, regardless of when I will be flying. I open an internet browser and do a search on one of the airline ticket search engines such as Expedia or Sidestep. They give you the options and sort them by price. Then I get busy and call the airline directly to see if I can get a better ticket price. It's worth it in the long run because you can save a good bit of money on your plane ticket if you take your time and do the research.
